Daybreak Factory
An empty floor and a $1 tap. By tonight there are six machines on it, the last one a Reactor, and the line is making money faster than your finger ever did. In the morning it is gone. You keep one thing out of the day, and you pick which.
Your finger is only the opening move
The Hand Press costs $10 and you have nothing. Work the floor with a finger, a mouse or the space bar until it is yours, then keep buying up the line: Conveyor, Stamper, Furnace, Assembler, and at the far end a Reactor. Each one earns while you sit there. Two minutes in they are out-earning you.
The floor still wants you. Twenty fast taps light the heat bar and the whole hall goes into overdrive, and every couple of minutes a golden crate rides the shipping belt for nine seconds and then it is gone. Catching one pays a minute of income, or two free levels on something you already own. Under the HUD an order banner asks you for work you were doing anyway, priced off what you are making now rather than an hour ago.
Then the bulldozers come. Yesterday’s Factory totals up what the whole day was worth, which is the last time you will ever see it, and then three perk cards come up and you take one. Forever.
You do not have to wait for morning. Get the Reactor online, put twenty minutes in, and an END SHIFT chip appears where the countdown was, offering to end the day right now at the grade you have already earned.
How to play
Day one walks a single line of instruction down the screen: TAP THE FLOOR TO WORK at the top of the floor, then NOW BUILD YOUR FIRST MACHINE over the Hand Press card, whose BUILD button pulses until you press it.
| Tap / click the floor | Work the presses for cash. Taps are also what fill the heat bar. |
|---|---|
| Space / Enter | Tap from the keyboard. While a golden crate is on the belt the key is aimed at the crate, so you can catch it without a pointer. |
| 1–6 or a shop card | Build or upgrade that machine tier. A card you cannot afford is dimmed rather than dead: tapping it shakes, plays the deny sound and floats “need $X more”. |
| Golden crate on the belt | Tap it within its nine seconds to collect. The tap still works the presses, so catching one never costs you heat. |
| END SHIFT chip | Appears in the HUD once the Reactor is online and twenty minutes have gone. It opens the confirm panel with your grade and the draft odds that grade buys you. |
| BADGES button | The permanent achievement board, on the title screen and on the Day End panel. |
| M or the speaker | Mute. The setting is kept in your save. |

Three cards, one pick
Fusion Core triples what the Reactor earns. Lucky Taps makes one tap in ten pay ten times over. Seed Money just hands you $500 to open with. A hand of three Commons re-rolls its last card up a rarity, so no draft is ever all junk, and nothing about tomorrow starts until you have taken one.
-
Skeleton Line takes the Reactor off the board
Standard Shift is always on the table. Take it and you have today’s game. Or take Skeleton Line, which locks the top tier out completely, knocks the price off every machine below it, and is the only ruleset that pays two grades back on tomorrow’s draft.
-
The bulldozers never touch the badge board
Every badge you earn survives the night. Two of them have no name and no goal shown until they land on you, so you find out what you did after you have already done it.
-
Twenty taps light the heat bar
Twelve seconds of overdrive, income and taps both up, the whole hall lit orange and everything on the belt moving like it is late for something. Stop tapping and it drains. A factory left to run itself never sees one at all.
-
The day gets a letter, D up to S
The Day End panel totals up the shift and gives it a letter, and the letter is what the next perk draft gets rolled at. Better letter, better odds. Keep turning up and the foreman rank moves as well, which is where the reroll on a bad hand comes from.
-
Away from the tab
Shut the lid and the line runs two hours without you. Draft Night Shift and it runs four more.
